Food insecurity reaches from the poorest countries of Sub-Sahara Africa to families in our own community.  Achieving food security is not a goal with a firm finish line: as soon as an imaginary line is crossed in the fight against hunger, there are more mouths to feed on an increasingly limited land-base, impacted further by global climate change. Advances in sustainable crop and livestock science and transferring the technology to the private sector and communities is at the very heart of solving this grand challenge. Our vision of creating food security for the world involves looking at every step of the food value chain. 

Our vision is to promote research that increases the amount and quality of food and nutrition across the world.  We want to improve education, agriculture, animal science, water use, food storage systems, and nutrition in an economic and sustainable way.  Our goal is to feed the world while maintaining the earth.
